Oh, I just don’t think he’s as keen to come out as Harry is, and sometimes I even think he would rather people thought he was straight than anything otherwise. I think it’s probably cos he’s changed himself so much in the last couple of years that makes me think that because to me that implies he’s not longer comfortable with being seen as camp/gay but I won’t pretend to have a direct line to his psyche, haha. :)
I don’t want to be the crazy Louis blog, but y’all are making me that way lately.
It’s one thing not to think Harry & Louis were/are together. I don’t understand that, but I’m not here to talk about that right now.
I want to talk about some people in this fandom who want to recognize that Harry and Louis may be very likely identify as LBGTQI*, want to hold Harry up as a bastion of all things happy, defiant and PRIDE-ful, but at the same time, want to keep Louis buried in the back of the closet by implying he is a coward.
Harry & Louis are, by all indications, closeted as individuals (and a couple). But they are closeted very differently. They are marketed VERY differently. This is intentional. This is not their choice. They can’t react to the same things in the same way. They wouldn’t even if they weren’t this closeted because individualism is a thing that exists.
To say that Louis has changed and no longer wants to come out because he is not acting how he did in 2011/2012 (read: in a stereotypically effiminate or “gay” way) all the time on camera in the 20% of the time we see him, is spectacularly shallow and lacks any kind of reasoning skills at all.
Louis and Harry aren’t the same person. They aren’t a single gay unit. They aren’t in the same closet. We don’t know why they aren’t coming out. I, and about 382934234 of us, can postulate all day long about why that is and come up with 3-5 good, plausible reasons.
But “Louis changed too much and doesn’t want to come out now” isn’t even in the logical ball park.
Can we all stop taking the homophobic, acerbic @Louis_Tomlinson image we’ve had force-fed down our throats and twisting him into some version of a person who fits the theory he’s gay but holding Harry back. Or gay but too scared to come out. Or “gay but…” anything, because we just don’t know.
Louis’s was much easier to make.
Let’s review, shall we? Things a gay man doesn’t do if he doesn’t want to be perceived as gay:
1. Wear a rainbow shirt.
2. Get a triangle tattoo.
3. Favorite tweets about the disappearance of [his beard’s name].
4. Look like he doesn’t give a shit about his beard’s college graduation.
5. Pretend to be trapped in a closet.
6. Sing about needing someone’s big dick.
7. Wear a t-shirt for a gay beach twice.
8. Totally fail to muster up any kind of fake interest in his beard.
[examples omitted because oh my god there are way too many]
These are such simple things that he could easily do or avoid doing if he actually gave a shit about people thinking that he’s gay. And there are so many other examples. God, someone could (and should) do a lengthy post about Elounor alone. If Louis wanted people to think he’s straight, the first thing he would do is try to look like he gives a shit about that relationship. I’m still waiting for that day. (I’m not waiting. It’s not going to happen.)
Meanwhile, I’ve literally never seen anyone present ANY evidence from his actual behavior demonstrating that he’s concerned about people’s perceptions of his sexuality.
Just goes to show how important father son sex is. Stretch your boys’ holes. They may need it someday.
